Storyropes™ in Haiti Part 2

November 19, 2014

After the Bible teaching, on the woman at the well who is forever changed by Jesus, I shared my story with my storyrope
. I taught that each of our stories matter and are important to God. I told the ladies, "Just like the woman at the well, He knows our stories and wants a love relationship with each of us." Our stories are safe with Jesus, no matter how hard or shameful our stories may be. Then, we had the ladies make their own storyropes to use as a bridge for telling their stories. T...

Storyropes™ in Haiti - November 2014 Part 1

November 11, 2014

Marcia Carole and Lissa, her wonderful translator, in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti

I've been out of the country, on a trip ministering to women in fascinating, poverty-stricken, beautiful Haiti. It was a stretching, thought-provoking, impactful trip in which my team brought the heart of Jesus to women in very difficult situations. It was a privilege to be a part of a talented team who prepared for this trip by making a storyropeto share their own stories. Knowing, owning, praying through and proc...

"I'm in that dark hole."

October 27, 2014

"Where Are You, God?" mixed media, Marcia Carole

Of the three pieces I had on display at my current church, this one sparked the most conversation. I was vulnerable and transparent with this one. We had pieces up in response to the book of Daniel - a man of God in captivity, completely faithful to God. I had made the above piece in response to my difficult, painful, chemo treatments - my own captivity, of sorts. On my darkest days, when I had to crawl to the bathroom because my flesh was too h...

On Moving

October 22, 2014
It's been slightly over four months since my big move to spend time with my grandchildren and their parents. It is a season to help while my son-in-law is deployed. It has been a larger move than I had originally thought. Larger in a number of ways. I'm saying, the change is big. Large. One big part of the change is; it's been hard to make any friends. There. I said it.  Since I'm not married, new friendships can't be forged with other couples easily. "Is your husband coming?" someone asks me...

Forgiveness - Costly Grace

October 19, 2014

The back cover of my book about the "woman at the well."

Why would Jesus freely engage the woman at the well, offer living water, eternal life, along with the rest in her heretical religious community? Why did he want to form relationships with them? Could it be He loved them? What was His tone when speaking with them? I just think there were so many things going on in this event.

Jesus stayed on with the Samaritans for a few days. He had a great love for them and wanted to extend mercy and gr...

The Drink Of A Lifetime

October 17, 2014

Completed book: the story of the Samaritan woman who encountered Jesus at a well.

The disciples return to Jesus, and, shockingly, find Him with this marginalized, immoral woman.

The Samaritan woman runs back to her community to tell about her amazing encounter with Jesus.

The central part of the story where the Samaritan woman and Jesus have a discussion about worship of God. Where will it be? Jesus announces it will be in spirit and in truth - in one's heart.

"The second...

Jesus, and the Woman, At The Well

October 15, 2014

Here are the first four collaged pages for new book to replace the one I have lost.

Here are the last four pages. I am thinking of inserting a page for when the disciples return and can't believe Jesus is speaking with this woman. It's an important part of the story, a second narrative, that hearkens to the older brother's reaction in the story of the Prodigal Son.

I love this page. The woman has seen the heart of God in her conversation with Jesus. She can't wait to tell her community about th...

Where Is That Book?

The Woman at the Well With Jesus, Collaged Book, Marcia Carole

I have misplaced a favorite little book I have used to teach Jesus' heart for women. This little book has gone to India, the Himalayas, down to Africa and over to Cambodia, Turkey and Thailand. Now, it's taking a well deserved nap, and I can't find its napping place. So, I am in the process of making a new, larger version of this treasure of a story. Stay tuned.....photos to follow.

Working away on a new version of this collaged boo...

About Me

Marcia Carole It is my pleasure to help many to process their stories by using a variety of art forms. The art reaches non-verbal parts of the brain, where trauma is stored. Healing may take place through the art-making. By sharing our stories, we become known. Instead of running from our stories, we embrace them and see how God can redeem them and use them.
