The Ruth Book Is Completed

Posted by Marcia Carole on Friday, April 26, 2013,

I'll be tucking this completed book of the story of Ruth in my suitcase, full of art, when I travel to Cameroon and Ethiopia. Happily, it is almost finished. Right now, it is drying and flattening under a mound of heavy books!

It was good to sit with my doctor for a while today. I like that he does not rush in and then rush out. He said I will always be stage 4(made me cry), however, my lungs are almost clear - big change from last year, and my tumor is shrinking. He showed me the first CT sca...

CT Scans and Trusting God

Ruth's Amazing Story Of God's Faithfulness, Fabric Collage Book, Marcia Carole

Today, I'll check in at my doctor's office, sit in the waiting room with my fellow cancer patients, maybe get a blood draw (let's hope not) and sit with my doctor to go over the CT scan results. These sorts of days usually get me down a little, but it's part of the cancer territory. Talking about cancer is sort of a downer. I know I am in good company with my fellow warriors who are bravely fighting as well as I. An...

The Story Of Ruth

The Story Of Ruth, Collaged Fabric, Marcia Carole

Naomi and her family in Moab.

and, trusting the process...what else does it need to tell the story? I let it rest a while, then come back to it. I am thinking of how Ruth, the despised Moabite woman, becomes the mother of Obed, who had Jesse, who had David. What a great story!

Naomi and Her Family Back Home.

Now to make the accordion book! The beautiful, spring sun is shining in Seattle, so it's going to be hard to stay indoors. I've got to catch...

Postcards For Cameroon

Posted by Marcia Carole on Thursday, April 18, 2013,

I have just received a big box of my postcards with my art reproduced on the front, and a verse in three languages on the back. I use Modern Postcard in California for the work. I hope to hand these out in upcoming workshops, especially when I tell the story of Abraham, Sarah and Hagar. There are hints of the cross and the second tree - as opposed to the tree in the garden of Eden. Here, we see, the promised Messiah will be coming from this family.

Today, I have a CT scan to see if the cancer ...

Spring Tulips!

Museum quality giclee prints of an original watercolor, Marcia Carole

I have five 11x14 inch prints and two 5x7 prints of my latest tulips. I think these would make nice cards, but I'll have to sell some prints first. I just wish the sun would come out in the convergence zone. It was cheery and sunny in Seattle when I picked these up. Not so, back home. So, my sunshine is coming from my fresh, cheery artwork instead.

Postcards Arriving Soon

Abraham, Sarah and Isaac - the promised child.
God Is Faithful, Collage Postcard, Marcia Carole

I have square postcards on the way! This is a new step for me. I've learned a lot, and I don't know if this is going to be a good step or not. Time will tell. I hope to pass these out on future outreaches and workshops. The back has a verse in three languages. I am hoping they will be a blessing to many.

I have a CT scan this week. Will the cancer have been beaten back by the chemo pill and my immun...

Final Preparation For Workshops

Posted by Marcia Carole on Thursday, April 11, 2013,
Using art, I am helping women share their stories. That is what God has called me to do. Soon, I will be on assignment! I have two local workshops coming up and one quite far away.(Cameroon) It is exciting to prepare and gather the various supplies we will be using. Having a variety of colors, pictures, ribbons, buttons, stamps, painted papers and some words, helps participants when designing their collaged books for telling life stories. Simply the process of making the art is very therapeut...

Birds Of A Feather

Birds Of A Feather, Original Watercolor, Marcia Carole

Above is my latest completed watercolor of Merganser ducks. I started it last spring, and only a year later, it is finished! I did take a major break from the piece, but it is nice to have it completed. I have two females fighting while a male quizzically watches the conversation.

" 'Hooded' is something of an understatement for this extravagantly crested little duck. Adult males are a sight to behold, with sharp black-and-white patterns se...

That's A Wrap

Fresh Giclee prints of my artwork - on sale on Saturday.

After many of hours of organizing and packaging art cards and prints, I sold a number of pieces, alongside several other artists and artisans on Saturday. I'm still hoping for an outlet for the art cards and prints, although I enjoy the time I have with my friends when we sell like this. It was often very wet and cold outside on Saturday, so fewer folks nudged themselves outdoors and over to the sale than at Christmas time.

I think each o...

God's Story/One Woman's Story In Turkey

Posted by Marcia Carole on Tuesday, April 2, 2013,
One woman's story in Turkey. Each of our stories are important and significant. Each of them matters to God. He is our Artist Maker, and wants us to have amazing, epic stories that glorify Him. As a girl child, her life begins in dark blackness. However, there is hope in the end. She comes to know God through Jesus. She is happily married and has two children. She is waiting for Jesus's return, waiting as His bride. One woman's story.

Lavender Cards Have Arrive

Lavender Bouquet, Marcia Carole Art Cards

I returned home from a lovely visit with two daughters in Colorado Springs, to find my lavender art cards waiting for me. I hope to sell a number of these to help support current and future art workshops both locally and globally. I'll be selling these locally this Saturday at an artisan's sale. I also hope to bring a set over to the lavender farm and gift shop a few miles from my home. Just maybe, they will want to sell them, too!

About Me

Marcia Carole It is my pleasure to help many to process their stories by using a variety of art forms. The art reaches non-verbal parts of the brain, where trauma is stored. Healing may take place through the art-making. By sharing our stories, we become known. Instead of running from our stories, we embrace them and see how God can redeem them and use them.
