We, Too, Can Have The Birth Of Jesus (In Our Hearts)

Adopted, Watercolor, Pen and Ink, Marcia Carole

This print is a last minute gift to Virginia. She liked it, but seemed puzzled. Hmmm, she said. She went onto explain she'd been wrestling through the reality of the Holy Spirit really being near to her….and His life and work active in her heart. Well, I said, maybe this is especially for you as you go through your time of wrestling. (He'll be there throughout her, and our, doubts, and maybe the art will help remind her.) Along with the laughte...

Varanasi Watercolor

Varanasi, watercolor on paper, Marcia Carole

Yesterday, I took up a watercolor painting I had done a while back, after returning from Varanasi, India. I warmed up the color tones in the piece, as I remembered the heat of the city. I also added some detail using a brown pen, and I intensified the colors in the sky. As the artist, for this work, I've gotten to the essence of some things and people I saw during my visit.

The roads were a menagerie of cows, people, water buffalo, garbage, dust, do...

God In A Brothel and Art Sales Are Winding Down

Rahab, Painted Papers Collage, Marcia Carole

I've had a whirlwind of a time selling art around the studio and beyond. Selling, a solidly left-brained activity, is somewhat more difficult for me to do. I love playing beautiful music, painting or collaging, all alone in my studio. I go away into a special "space" of peace and joy, much energy, and closeness with God - in my heart, mind, body and soul. It's a sacred, set apart, space for me.

I come out of that space to sell. It's important and ne...

Little Nicaragua

Little Nicaragua, Watercolor on Paper, Marcia Carole

I began this painting of plumera while spending a couple of months working and living in Nicaragua. My time in Los Cedros was good, hard, deeply satisfying and profoundly encouraging. The friendships I have there are eternal. I love the women I spent time with, and Pastor, Pastora and their daughters are very dear to my heart. They are like beautiful flowers in my heart.

It's taken me a bit of time to return to this piece, however, while clea...

A Collaged Christmas

Christmas, Painted Papers Collage, Marcia Carole

The Christ Child broke into our torn and darkened world with brilliance and humility. A God/man king has arrived, choosing to be born in a stable. "For unto us a child is born; unto us a son is given." In that one sentence we understand Jesus - fully God and fully man. (His perfect life will be the perfect sacrifice/payment for our darknesses and torn up hearts.)

Jesus is our greatest gift at Christmas - for ourselves and for our neighbors.

The Burden, The Gift

The Burden, The Gift, oil on canvas, Marcia Carole

Some of this painting was done with my fingers. I enjoy actually touching the paint - maybe I'm making up for lost time when, during my childhood, getting dirty with paint wasn't acceptable. Who knows. It helps me to worship Jesus when I paint with my fingers. And, so, it was a great morning of worship in the studio today, with paint, fingers, heart and soul.

I wanted to paint Mary and Jesus as very human with the huge task - almost burden thru...

About Me

Marcia Carole It is my pleasure to help many to process their stories by using a variety of art forms. The art reaches non-verbal parts of the brain, where trauma is stored. Healing may take place through the art-making. By sharing our stories, we become known. Instead of running from our stories, we embrace them and see how God can redeem them and use them.
