Training Leaders - Healing Prayer

Posted by Marcia Carole on Monday, April 28, 2014,

A vital part of the work I do, along with team members, is praying through women's stories as they share the art they have made. The art often reveals dark, traumatic or shameful parts of one's story. Wrong choices, words, actions are confessed. There are people to forgive, through prayer, as one's story is shared. Abusers are brought to Jesus and the work He has done on the cross. Jesus has died for each of our sins, and for every sin committed against us. Justice has been done. Payment for ...

Reflecting On Our Stories Through Psalm 23

The 23rd Psalm Art Book, Marcia Carole

Many have asked for further instruction in helping participants share their stories in a Psalm 23 workshop. I have my participants share parts of their own stories, through the art, as they collage. So, here goes! I hope this is helpful.

Psalm 23 begins with; "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want." I think of God as Creator King who is a kind shepherd. He takes care of my needs, and He is creative in how that is accomplished. When collaging the ...

Story Ropes Going To Sweden

Story Rope, My Story, Marcia Carole

This past week, I trained a good friend in how to share one's story with a "story rope." She helps men and women, in a variety of trainings and seminars, to process their stories using words and charts. She wanted to consider adding the story rope making to the work she is already doing. So, she came to my "studio" and first made her own story rope. After she shared her story with the story rope she had made, I prayed with her through her story. It was a ver...

Cancer, Death, Beauty, Love

Set Free By Love, original watercolor, Marcia Carole

I have cancer. I am terminal. (Yes, I know everyone is.) So, Easter is my favorite celebration in my walk with Jesus. He died for the punishment of my sins, wrongs, darknesses of heart. Of, course He died for yours, too! What better news could we ever receive?

However, He did not stay dead. Rather He conquered death, and came alive again. Beauty out of brokenness. He showed me He has power over both sin and death. Even my upcoming death. So, ...

Psalm 23 Collaged Book, Marcia Carole

I spent a couple of of days helping my grandson make a collaged Psalm 23 book. It is a wonderful project for children as well as adults. It was so interesting to see how the verses resonated with my grandson's heart. There was one very special moment when I was discussing how God sees us through our valleys or dark parts of our stories, and my grandson shared a dark time in his heart - a situation that seemed like a real valley. Below is how he collaged th...

Winter Intervention, Part II

Posted by Marcia Carole on Saturday, April 5, 2014,

The snow was melting, and the coffee was warm. It was a special night of art and story sharing for about a dozen women at Jitters in Eagle River, Alaska. Several shared their "hearts" which included what they celebrate in their lives, what is hard about their stories and what they hope for their stories.

One woman took several photos in order to use this art project in the future for the work she does. How rewarding it is to pass on this "bridge" for sharing one's story. Art helps release sto...

Winter Intervention - Eagle River, Alaska Workshop

Telling our stories through art collage in Alaska.

It's "winter intervention" day here in Eagle River, Alaska. This evening, I'll be heading over to Jitters with my daughter, Katie, who lives in Alaska. She has graciously invited me to host an art workshop to help her friends tell their stories through the type of art I do. Jitters is a comfortable, leather chairs type coffee shop in this snow-covered mountains, little town. She and her girlfriends have rented the back room of Jitters for mont...

About Me

Marcia Carole It is my pleasure to help many to process their stories by using a variety of art forms. The art reaches non-verbal parts of the brain, where trauma is stored. Healing may take place through the art-making. By sharing our stories, we become known. Instead of running from our stories, we embrace them and see how God can redeem them and use them.
