Finishing Noah And Trying To Breath In Colorado

Posted by Marcia Carole on Thursday, August 28, 2014,

I am limping to the finish line, or rather the starting line, of my healthcare kicking in here in Colorado Springs. (Moving stops and starts all sorts of things!) My allergy issues have kicked up a notch with new weeds and pollens, and they have hampered breathing in my new location. My Colorado healthcare begins September 1st, and I hope to meet with an allergist shortly thereafter. When fighting cancer, you really want some oxygen to work with!

I am also at the finish line for making art fo...

One Man's Story, Acrylic on Canvas, Mixed Media, Marcia Carole

Here is Nebuchadnezzar's story in shapes and colors. I can't photograph it without distortion, but you get the idea. The first section represents his life before his pride was full, and the little black rectangle in the green space represents the moment he declared he had created everything and was responsible for his glory. The second section, the mostly black panel, represents the 7 years Neb lived as an animal, and then God reac...

Daniel, A Man Of Prayer No Matter What, Acrylic, Mixed-Media, Marcia Carole

I've set aside this piece for now. We have partnered for going on three weeks, and we need a pause. It's good to take a rest from working on one piece day after day to gain a fresh perspective on the work. Although, I have learned new things with this piece - especially the use of collage - I have tired of it. That's a sure sign I need to take a break from this one.

I'll offer it to my new church in early September. We ...

Sequin waste used to make texture here and there in the painting.

Sequin waste texture over the Hebrew words.

Nearing completion...I want to put a mat glaze over the whole piece.

Daniel, A Man Of Prayer, Acrylic, Mixed-Media, Marcia Carole

I've got a bit more of the painting to complete, including some Hebrew lettering. I am enjoying the collage aspect of this painting. It continues to form and take shape. It is a meditative piece for me, especially as I listen to a reading of the book of Daniel from the Bible.

New Church, New Art

Painting in my studio - Daniel, Man Of Prayer

After visiting several churches this summer, I have been attending a church in Colorado Springs for about a month. The new church has just started a creative arts group; that's really exciting for me. They have put out a call for work based on the Biblical account of Daniel's life. After reading the book, and after listening to it being read, I have begun a painting. I am focusing on Daniel's amazing prayer life - no matter what was happening in hi...

About Me

Marcia Carole It is my pleasure to help many to process their stories by using a variety of art forms. The art reaches non-verbal parts of the brain, where trauma is stored. Healing may take place through the art-making. By sharing our stories, we become known. Instead of running from our stories, we embrace them and see how God can redeem them and use them.
