Psalm 23 Meditation, Painted Papers Collage, Marcia Carole

The collage above was created in response to four questions I came up with while meditating on Psalm 23. A friend wanted a one page idea for her teaching on Psalm 23. I know the Holy Spirit led me in this project because I was busy with other things, and He stopped me in my tracks! As you look at Psalm 23, God's attributes emerge. Some can be found in the questions I came up with. Here they are.

When was a time when God protected you? W...

India - Story Ropes

Posted by Marcia Carole on Friday, February 21, 2014,

Sharing my story with my story rope in Indore, India.

During the month of January, I shared a tool, story rope making, for leaders to use for helping them and others to tell their stories. The colors of fabrics and ribbons, tied on a longer fabric "rope" represent different parts of a woman's story. The trauma of hard parts of the women's stories were beginning to lift from their hearts as they shared.

Women leaders, shown above, are sharing their stories using their story ropes. As stories are...

Mentoring Story Collage and Story Ropes

Posted by Marcia Carole on Tuesday, February 18, 2014,

Last Week, I had the privilege of mentoring Patricia in the various art forms I use when helping to care for women. We spent about three days together, making the art, and sharing our stories. From story ropes, to story boarding a story, to actually collaging two stories, as well as her own personal story, Patricia worked hard! She is a gifted speaker and musician who will bring fresh ideas to the work God has called her to with women!

February Valentine's Luncheon

Posted by Marcia Carole on Monday, February 17, 2014,

Lunch on Valentine's Day 2014 was a very special time with many women at my church. The food was very tasty. All enjoyed the fellowship around the tables as we ate and shared a bit of our stories with new friends. Then, the art began!

After sharing a part of my story with my heart collage and Jesus' heart for women, over 100 women had the opportunity to make an art piece to share what they most treasure in their hearts. It was such fun to see so many women creating and enjoying art making to...

January MOPS Gathering

Posted by Marcia Carole on Sunday, February 9, 2014,

Forty-Five women, who gather for a MOPS group at my church, had the opportunity to collage part of their stories at a workshop I led, about 5 days after I returned from India. MOVE OVER JET LAG! They made a "cross page" and, through collage, answered four questions. What was your beginning like? What do you celebrate in your story? What is hard about your story? What do you hope for your story?

After the women competed their work, they had the opportunity to share their stories and to have p...

My Heart Is Full - Preparing For Women's Luncheon

Posted by Marcia Carole on Saturday, February 1, 2014,
Here is a new idea I have prepared for an upcoming art outreach. Please feel free to borrow this idea, if it will help you and or your group. I'd appreciate you passing along where you got the idea. Thanks!

Cut out a heart from heavy card stock. The larger the heart, the longer the time to complete the heart project. Cut out magazine photos, words, graphics that apply to what you treasure in your heart. Where do your passions lie? Select some painted papers, or brightly colored paper to make t...

About Me

Marcia Carole It is my pleasure to help many to process their stories by using a variety of art forms. The art reaches non-verbal parts of the brain, where trauma is stored. Healing may take place through the art-making. By sharing our stories, we become known. Instead of running from our stories, we embrace them and see how God can redeem them and use them.
