This Isn't A Craft Project, Is It?

Telling God's Story, Marcia Carole, Gospel Cards

When I am about to go on an international outreach, or even lead a local art workshop, I am seeing I need to articulate, better, what it is that I do. That way, what I don't do may more easily come off the table and out of the minds of those thinking about being a part of the art making. So often, when one says, "Art project," the participants, and even hosts, think craft project - like summer camp.

The type of art I do is a bridge for the releas...

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, redemptive acts, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

Psalm 23 - Connecting Our Stories With Scripture - Turkey

Posted by Marcia Carole on Sunday, March 23, 2014,

Above, is one example of the entire Psalm 23, in collage, from a participant of my art workshop. What a wonderful way to process, memorize and internalize this very important Psalm. The women really enjoyed the process, and many lingered long after we were dismissed. They often included parts of their stories in the different "pages" of the collage process. It is a safer way to share our stories because it is done with pictures, not words. We can say as little or as much as we feel comfortabl...

First Workshop - Making art to bring some parts of our stories to Jesus.

Trauma is stored in the non-verbal parts of our brains, and deep in our hearts, and the art making helps release stored trauma. This type of art making is focused, intentional and often brings healing. The time with the women, during this first workshop, was very special....

About Me

Marcia Carole It is my pleasure to help many to process their stories by using a variety of art forms. The art reaches non-verbal parts of the brain, where trauma is stored. Healing may take place through the art-making. By sharing our stories, we become known. Instead of running from our stories, we embrace them and see how God can redeem them and use them.
