Defend, Rescue, Deliver, Original graphite drawing, Marcia Carole

Today, I am a part of one of my favorite weekends of the year. It is the weekend when my church family celebrates service, being the hands and feet of Jesus, locally and globally. Various ministries and servants have the opportunity to share what they do all around the world. Terrific food is served, conversations are started, and awareness is raised. The above drawing is for the Frontline For Justice table area to help raise awareness of the world-wide sex-trafficking issue.

This year, Frontline for Justice team members will be traveling to a town outside Phnom Phen, Cambodia, to come alongside those who are caring for trafficked children. They will go to defend, rescue and deliver children from the slavery of the sex-traffic industry. As an artist, I think it is important to give a voice to these voiceless victims. Here, a young girl has been raped and sitting on the floor after her ordeal. Pain and hopelessness mixed with longing for genuine love may be read in her little face. Does anyone care? I hope this piece has helped to give her that voice.

Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 82:3-4
