Lavender Fields, Watercolor, Marcia Carole

Tonight, while teaching a private lesson, we worked wet on wet - that is, we worked with wet paper with our watercolors. This became my demo. It was fun to work more loosely than I normally do! Of course, dreaming of the bright sunshine on a lavender field, all on a Seattle cloudy day, made me happy as well. I am hoping to work up several possibilities for cards for a lavender farm's gift shop. Stay tuned!

Here is a link to our local lavender farm.

Here is an interesting Bible fact: "Lavender is mentioned often in the Bible, not by the name lavender but rather by the name used at that time--spikenard (from the Greek name for lavender, naardus, after the Syrian city Naarda). In the gospel of Luke the writer reports: "Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment." -http://www.lavenderfarm.com/history.htm
