Let There Be Light and Color, Acrylic on Paper, Marcia Carole

Yesterday, I had some flat out fun with light and color on my well lit, kitchen floor. I had to paint in the brightest room in the house because the Seattle grey creeps in every other room. This piece is large - thus - I sat on my floor. I turned up my music loudly, and enjoyed creating something on that blank page of my story with the light streaming from above. Since I am enjoying my birds so much these days, a colorful bird emerged out of the brilliant streaks of color.

For a moment or two, I took no thought about my cancer and just enjoyed the process of creating.

Being created in the image of a creator God, I'm sure He was enjoying watching my process on my floor in the kitchen. Before I knew it, light came streaming in from outside - yes, glorious sunlight arrived to Seattle for the rest of the day! What joy! He turned on light - essential to see color - and brightened all the colors in my neighborhood. The Master Artist taught me well about light shining in darkness, and the joy it brings.

Then, it hit me, I have His "light" and He wants me to shine it in my life, even in the darkness of cancer. There will be the color - in the LIGHT! He wants me to shine it in difficult conversations and in the stories of those I come upon, or who bump into me on this journey of life. God doesn't want me to hold back now in sharing how much He loves us by coming to earth, to rescue us out of our darkness.

"Every secret, every shame
Every fear, every pain
Live inside the dark
But that's not who we are
We are children of the day

So wake up sleeper, lift your head
We were meant for more than this
Fight the shadows conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left

Chorus:
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
We gotta, we gotta, we gotta let the light shine......"

Here is a portion of this song which I was listening to yesterday. http://youtu.be/B07iK9uh9qY I believe it opens in a separate window. Turn it up loudly, let YOUR light shine, and enjoy your day!

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
