Not A Tourist Destination, Graphite on paper, Marcia Carole
I’ve taken a short break from my lavender painting. I am enjoying a visit with my grandsons, and that means making collage books with them, taking walks in the snow, changing diapers, making hot chocolate and peanut butter&jelly sandwiches, and lots of stories and laughter.
My daughter pulled out a stash of my artwork she had kept for me when I was working outside the country. Among the works, I found a drawing that is very important to me. I remember hours of laying down graphite on paper that wanted to give way. I so wanted to tell the sorrow of this little thrown away girl. Will anyone care?
I hope to add it to a display for an organization that advocates for sexually trafficked women and children.
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed; rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
PSALM 82:3-4
