The Almighty asks for nothing but ourselves. Our beautiful church buildings, our slick professionalism, all are peripheral to the vision of God. He does not want what we have; He wants who we are. He seeks to create in our hearts a sanctuary for Himself, a place where He may rest.” – Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God, Francis Frangipane

When I saw the above quote by Francis Frangipane, he reminded me of the importance of searching our hearts, having the Lord search our hearts, and knowing what is in them. When idols, false gods, good things that become ultimate things, are clogging up our hearts, there is little room for our loving Lord.

Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting! – Psalm 139:23, 24
