God’s Story, acrylic on canvas, Marcia Carole
I have completed a large canvas in response to my time in India. I am hopeful this piece can be shared in countries where this style, mehndi, resonates. I’ve painted the flow of God’s big story in this piece.
Beginning with creation in the root system of the tree, and then Adam and Eve, the two hearts, with the apple and serpent and promised savior in the lower trunk, I tell His story. Then, I have stars representing the promise to Abraham and Sarah, the 12 tribes, Joseph(grains of wheat), Moses(parting of the waves), the judges and prophets(standing stones) and then Messiah, the Living Water jar, arrives. I have the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove and the fiery symbol, and the fruit of the Spirit flowing out. I have the lotus blossom by the Living Water to represent the woman at the well, and the love Jesus has for women – as much as men. The twelve disciples are represented by twelve leaves. The tree is truly the Tree of Life – regained through Jesus.
