Compassion, Mixed Media, Marcia Carole

This cross page is from my series of “archway” pages I created in response to my time in Morocco. The book was completed in Nicaragua in 90 degree heat. Amazingly, the gluesticks worked, and I was able to come home with a completed accordion book. The vibrant colors I chose to use can also be found in Nicaragua!

This is the last page of the book, and it ties all the archways together. Because of the compassionate sacrifice Jesus gave us on the cross, we are at peace with God, and all is well between us if we accept this amazing, loving gift. No more trying on our own to earn God’s favor. We already have it secured, because Jesus secured it on the cross. The compassion Jesus has for each of us is evidenced by His love on the cross. Thank you, Jesus.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished.” He bowed his head, and gave up his spirit. John 19:30

It is finished – As if he had said: “I have executed the great designs of the Almighty – I have satisfied the demands of his justice – I have accomplished all that was written in the prophets, and suffered the utmost malice of my enemies; and now the way to the holy of holies is made manifest through my blood.” An awful, yet a glorious finish. Through this tragical death God is reconciled to man, and the kingdom of heaven opened to every believing soul.

“Shout heaven and earth, this Sum of good to Man!” – Clarke’s Commentary of the Bible
