Collaged Pages, Marcia Carole

I am recounting an important story through collaged papers. After some time with a very special teacher/prayer warrior, I came away with a deeper understanding of the woman Jesus spoke with, at Jacob’s well in Samaria. A number of things occurred during that long conversation, perhaps the longest recorded conversation Jesus had with anyone.

Jesus had no leather cup, no jar or urn with which to draw or drink water. Most likely, he was suggesting he drink from the woman’s cup or, perhaps, even her (morally impure) hands. This is incredible in my mind. Jesus is determined to have relationship with this one woman, has been waiting for her at the well, knows everything about her(the four husbands and the current live in lover) and wants “help” from her. He intentionally puts himself in a humble position with her.

This dear one, in Jesus’ eyes, is seemingly looking for love in all the wrong places. I portray her as a woman with “holes” which only Jesus can fill. He willingly wants to extend grace and mercy to her, and give her “living water” or what we’d call eternal life. His elevation of women to their rightful place –  they being just as important as men, can be seen throughout this passage of the Bible.

Bring Your Husband, Painted Papers Collage, Marcia Carole

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) John 4:7,8
