Beginning a new watercolor…focus on the brush.
Working with new watercolors, new paper and new brush….focus on the paper.
Choosing a focal point…..
A young photographer gave me an extended lesson with my camera today. He carefully explained “iso” and “F”. I’m not quite sure what they stand for, but he tirelesslessly had me practice over and over to see what different numbers of these would do in a photo with regard to lighting and clarity.
He helped me to pick a focal point, and let other things end up being blurry. He showed me how to focus on one flower or petal, and let everything else in the photo get fuzzy ala artsy magazine photos. The photographer wanted to be certain I would retain what he was teaching me. What a kind, patient teacher.
Like life, not every little thing can be in focus as our day presents itself. Some things are blurry. However, one thing always remains in focus in my life – following hard after Jesus – meaning, having Him as the center or focal point of my life. Well, I pray a lot for this. I certainly don’t do the following perfectly, but I am keeping it as my main focus. Other things just have to blurr in comparison. And, I know Jesus is patiently, kindly mentoring me in how to do this following.
Luke 6:40
“A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.” (ESV)
