As I finish up this piece today, I am encouraged in my faith in Jesus. It’s always a wonderful surprise when God ministers to me through my art-making. (I am here, He whispers.) He has been teaching me trust, that is – trust Him, even when there is no good news. That includes when the lump in my breast remains day after day, and when my daughter calls with heart problems prompting me to fly to Colorado Springs to be at her side. God is still very present, and my help, comfort, living water in spite of circumstances.
I’ve added some collage and gold leaf in order to add more depth and movement to the piece. I wanted to describe the water breaking through our “nets” of sorrow and darkness. When we have a relationship with the Living God through Jesus, we can hand Him the shreds of our lives and He does amazing things with them. He is here, in them. Who’d knew I’d be traveling all over the world, listening carefully, making art, with His heart for women in dark situations?
Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.'” John 7:38
