Reconciliation, Acrylic on canvas, Marcia Carole
While processing my recent trip to Cameroon and Ethiopia, I painted my way out of my gray, Seattle blues by using rich, deep colors in this piece like I saw in Cameroon. I was meditating on the story of Joseph’s reunion with Jacob. I was also thinking how I am the one being held in reconciliation with God through Jesus. It became a deeply personal piece as I added layers and lines.
I have a second painting on the theme of The Dance on deck and ready to be painted using this style. While researching Cameroonian artists, I found one painter using this style, of sorts, and decided to give it a try. I love pushing myself to bust out of my super realism. Stay tuned for the next painting…..
West African Dancer, love the colors and movement. I hope to capture some of this energy in my dance painting.
