I have just returned from India and Nepal. It was an amazing experience. I shared stories and made art with many. I carry many special people home in my heart! I met many unsung heroes serving the poor and marginalized in hard places around the world – India and Nepal being two of those places.
I hope to make some art in response to my experiences there, but for now, I’ll need to rest from jet lag, take care of my body – I’m still fighting cancer, here. I have lots to think about and process. I saw so many contrasts – light-filled, vivid colors, silks, jewels and sequins contrasted with dark, gray dust, plastic trash in heaps, and dark alleyways leading to…who knows where. Such contrasts of light and darkness on so many levels.
I usually do my best “thinking’ through art-making. Stay tuned!
