I have had a week and a half off from chemo; my body is happy. I have really enjoyed my returned strength these past few days. I have walked 3.1 miles several days in a row this week. Some of the walking was uphill, and all with dear sister friends. I have even cooked and cleaned a little – without totally feeling like passing out. The vacation ends Monday, but I am thankful for each chemo-free day!

In honor of my chemo vacation, I have returned to a watercolor I began one year, when I gave myself a 365 day challenge. The challenge was to make some art every day for 365 days. I completed a good portion of the challenge, and have found “almost” finished pieces in all my recent unpacking. Today, I worked on these cala lilies – at least that is what I think they are. They are cheery and make me smile.

Although we had our first lovely, white snow of the new year, I merrily painted my cala lilies in my cozy studio. Today was an especially good day.

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22
